How Statcast Data Works
Source and cadence
Metrics come from Baseball Savant and refresh each night at 6 AM CT.
What is a snapshot?
Each night we save one season-to-date leaderboard as a row per player. The snapshot-date picker above lets you time-travel — see what the leaderboard looked like on any past day — useful for tracking how a player's form has moved over the season.
Qualified vs all players
The Qualified only checkbox hides players with fewer than 30 plate appearances, so you don't get noise from small samples.
Key metric glossary
- xBA / xSLG / xwOBA — expected batting average / slugging / wOBA based on quality of contact (exit velo + launch angle), removing luck from the batted-ball result.
- Barrel% — share of batted balls with the ideal exit velo/launch angle combo. High barrel% = raw damage.
- Hard-Hit% — share of batted balls with exit velo ≥ 95 mph.
- Sweet-Spot% — share of batted balls with launch angle 8–32°.
- Whiff% — share of swings that miss. High = more strikeouts.
- Chase% — share of out-of-zone pitches swung at. Low = disciplined hitter.
- CSW% (pitchers) — called strikes + whiffs per pitch. Higher = nastier stuff.
